This part of Mallorca's central lowlands is thought to be the most authentic. Agrarian life, oblivious to foreign influences, continues to dominate the terrain, which is devoted to grain crops, livestock production, and wineries. If you're unfamiliar with Santa Maria, it's the next market town outside of Palma, known for its vineyards and a weekly market with a lively, cosmopolitan vibe, as well as a lot of notable restaurants despite remaining rural. Santa Maria also has the advantage of being on a train line, making it possible to reach Palma's city centre in ten minutes.
